As a Whistler wedding photographer, and local who has lived in Whistler for over 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of capturing weddings just about everywhere in town. Because of this, I have put together a list, along with images and links, of some of the best Whistler wedding venues.

From hotel ballrooms and lodges to rustic barns, art galleries and in helicopters soaring over the mountains, I’ve discovered some of the most beautiful Whistler wedding venues for couples to tie the knot.

Not only can I share wedding venue recommendations with you, but with my passion for nature photography, I also know the truly breathtaking spots in Whistler for your portraits. Couples choose Whistler for their weddings because they love the outdoors and I couldn’t be prouder to show you around my backyard!

PS: If you can’t find the right venue in Whistler, check out my list of Squamish wedding venues, just down the road!

1. Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC)

Top Whistler wedding venue Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre indoor wedding ceremony

The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) is an authentic Indigenous experience in Whistler comprising a museum, art gallery, gift shop and cafe. It’s also a beautiful wedding venue!

I love the unique architecture within the SLCC and how the large windows let in so much natural light. For your ceremony and reception, you’ll have a few different spots to choose from, such as the impressive Great Hall, outdoor Mezzanine Patio and charming round room, Istken Hall. Nearby you’ll also be able to walk to a beautiful forest path and river – perfect for portraits!

The SLCC is conveniently located within Whistler Village with major hotels only a few minutes away, meaning you and your guests can walk to your venue!

2. Audain Art Museum

If you’re looking for something a little bit more modern, the Audain Art Museum might be the perfect Whistler wedding venue for you. This space is stunning, with interesting architecture and lots of great natural light.

If the weather is bad, Audain still offers lots of great options for hosting your wedding and for capturing portraits. They have a beautiful covered space under the building that makes for a very stylish wedding backdrop – think lots of wood, open spaces and black detailing.

3. Fairmont Chateau Whistler

wedding ceremony outdoors on Fairmont Chateau Whistler lawn

For luxury in the mountains, look no further than the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. This iconic hotel is one of the most popular wedding venues in Whistler, and for good reason.

The Fairmont has lots of options for your ceremony and reception locations, both indoors and outdoors, for weddings from 10 – 1500 guests. Favourites include the charming Rooftop Chapel, Mountain View lawn with stunning natural vistas, and The Chalet for an intimate reception.

Something else I like about the Fairmont Whistler is that it’s located in the Upper Village, slightly out of the way of the busy main village. You can still easily walk into the main village, but you don’t have to deal with the hustle and bustle.

4. Four Seasons Resort Whistler

bride and groom walking down aisle inside ceremony venue at The Four Seasons Whistler

The Four Seasons is a beautiful high-end resort in Whistler offering updated accommodations and a luxury feel.

Their main wedding venue is the Harmony Ballroom, which can hold up to 350 guests (or 250 seated at banquet tables) for your reception. You can also make use of the Harmony Foyer, with its impressive floor to ceiling windows, and Harmony Terrace, for some outdoor space.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a perfect ceremony space at the Four Seasons Whistler, but it’s still a great option for a reception and one of my top picks for getting ready. Their suites are beautiful with an elegant and modern feel. Book one with a balcony overlooking the mountains so you really feel like you’re in Whistler!

5. The Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler

Outdoor ceremony with flowers and paper umbrellas at The Westin Resort and Spa

Right in the heart of the village and steps from the Whistler Gondola lies The Westin Resort & Spa. One of the best things about this venue is its location. Because it’s so close to the gondola, you can easily head up to the top for epic mountain portraits without a far walk or needing to worry about parking.

They offer a number of different spaces for you to hold your ceremony and reception. The Grill & Vine Restaurant is one of my favourite reception options – it feels like a real ski chalet with stone walls, rustic chandeliers and lots of natural light pouring in.

If you want to hold your ceremony outside, The Westin’s Outlook Point offers panoramic mountain views and gets really nice light in the afternoon.

6. Dusty’s Bar & BBQ

Summer ceremony at Dusty's BBQ and Bar in Whistler

Dusty’s Bar & BBQ is one of the original establishments here in Whistler, having been opened in 1965. It’s home to one of the largest and sunniest patios in Whistler, plus the inside has a cozy atmosphere with a fireplace, wooden walls and lots of light streaming through the windows.

Dusty’s is located in Whistler Creekside, which means it’ll be quieter for you and your guests compared to the main Whistler Village. You can hold your ceremony on the giant patio with the mountains as your backdrop!

Fun fact: Dusty’s is named after a stuffed horse named Dusty who was set up in the bar in 1979. He watched over bar patrons for more than a decade but no one knows where he is now!

7. Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa

Similar to The Westin, the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa enjoys a convenient location by the base of the Whistler Gondola, perfect for mountain portraits or a pre-ceremony ski session. For receptions, they offer a few different rooms, such as the Mount Currie Ballroom and Cheakamus Room, as well as smaller spaces for more intimate weddings.

I’d recommend the Hilton Whistler for a reception in a convenient area and for getting ready, as the rooms are large and bright. Unfortunately, there’s not a great ceremony space, so I’d suggest holding your ceremony off-site.

8. Whistler Blackcomb

Moody mountaintop ceremony at Whistler Blackcomb Resort

If you’re looking for a truly epic place to get married in Whistler, it’s hard to beat on top of the mountains at Whistler Blackcomb Resort! This is a perfect venue for adventurous couples who want to wow their guests with a unique and breathtaking wedding experience.

You and your guests will enjoy the fun ride up the Whistler Gondola to get to your wedding venue. Once you’ve reached the resort, you’ll have no shortage of stunning places for portraits. In my opinion, nothing beats sunset on top of Whistler Mountain!

Whistler Blackcomb has a few indoor and outdoor spaces for your ceremony and reception. The Glacier View Room is great for larger weddings with a view and Steeps Grill & Wine Bar offers both a beautiful indoor space and a covered patio overlooking the valley.

9. Nita Lake Lodge

Nestled in quiet Creekside and set on a glacier-fed lake is the beautiful Nita Lake Lodge. The architecture of this place completely blows me away!

Nita Lake Lodge offers different wedding packages that include both your ceremony and reception venues, as well as dining. They have packages for smaller weddings and elopements (apx 20-60 guests) and their largest Nita Package, for up to 130 guests.

For your ceremony, I love their Porte-Cochère space, which is a huge wooden gazebo with mountain views, or their Lakeside Patio, right on the water. For your reception, the Lakeside Restaurant has a great ambiance while the Library is a cozy spot for smaller groups. The rooms at Nita Lake Lodge are also great for getting ready photos!

10. Whistler Sliding Centre

Looking for a unique Whistler wedding venue? You’ll find it at Whistler Sliding Centre, a bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track that hosted part of the 2010 Winter Olympics. If you’ve always wanted to walk in the footsteps of Olympians or get married at an Olympic venue, this one’s for you!

My favourite part about the Whistler Sliding Centre is the view. It’s a beautiful place to be at sunset! Their Top Start House offers an Upper Deck, Lower Deck and Indoor Space depending on your needs and guest count.

As a bonus, Whistler Sliding Centre is a non-profit so proceeds from your wedding go back to the athletes who train there.

11. Nicklaus North Golf Course

snowy outdoor ceremony with balloon decor at Nicklaus North Golf Course

Another option if you want to get out of Whistler Village is Nicklaus North, a beautiful golf course set on an emerald lake with the forest and mountains right behind you. I love this venue for both summer and winter weddings.

Nicklaus North offers indoor and outdoor spaces for your ceremony, as well as a dining room and lounge for your reception. In the summer, you can say “I do” on their putting green and in the winter, you can buy out the entire clubhouse venue for just you and your guests.

Bonus: Nicklaus North is just a short walk to one of my favourite outdoor photo locations for wedding portraits!

12. The Stone Circle and Cabin

intimate wedding inside The Stone Circle cabin in Whistler

The Stone Circle is a beautiful outdoor wedding venue in Whistler that’s ideal for elopements or very small weddings. It can accommodate a max of 30 people, though I find even fewer works best.

Set on Alta Lake, you’ll feel like you have a remote spot in the forest all to yourselves, after a short walk down the trail. And with the mountains and lake behind you, you won’t need much more decor at the Stone Circle.

If the weather isn’t good, there’s a quiet cabin in the woods nearby that makes a great venue in itself!

13. Blackcomb Helicopters

If you’re looking for a true adventure in the mountains of Whistler, why not consider a heli-wedding with Blackcomb Helicopters? You, your partner, your vendors and maybe some guests will take a scenic helicopter flight over the Sea to Sky to your landing location. Once there, you can say your vows and create the most epic wedding photos!

Flights range from 12-25 minutes round trip, with 45 minutes at the landing location for your ceremony and photos. You can choose from many stunning landing locations, such as Ipsoot Icefield, Rainbow Mountain, Beverley Lake and Marriage Lake.

While heli-weddings are best for elopements, it is possible to host a larger wedding with multiple flights. I once shot a wedding with 40 guests who all arrived via helicopter!

14. Canadian Wilderness Adventures

wedding ceremony in the forest at Canadian Wilderness Adventures in Whistler

Located in the Callaghan Valley, just 30 minutes from Whistler, is Canadian Wilderness Adventures. This tour company offers all sorts of activities – such as snowmobiling, dog sledding and a mountaintop fondue – as well as some of my favourite venue spaces for your Whistler wedding.

They have three unique spaces you can choose from. The Barn is a rustic indoor/outdoor venue with great natural light that can host up to 140 guests. The Mountain Cabin is perfect for intimate weddings in a remote location. And The Caboose, an authentic refurbished CN Rail caboose, is probably as unique as it gets!

In addition to beautiful backdrops and venues, Canadian Wilderness Adventures can also host activities for your guests, such as axe-throwing.

15. Wedge Mountain Lodge and Spa

Wedge Mountain Lodge wedding ceremony on lawn

One of the newest Whistler wedding venues – where I had the pleasure of photographing the very first wedding on-site – is Wedge Mountain Lodge and Spa. This luxury 12,000 square foot chalet offers a stunning space for you and your guests.

I love the look and feel of this venue. You can tell that so much love and care went into every detail, as all of the rooms are designed beautifully. You’ll have a number of spaces to choose from for your ceremony and reception, as well as amenities and entertainment on-site.

Wedge Mountain Lodge is ideal for small weddings and requires you to book out the entire private venue. Your booking includes a three-night minimum stay for up to 20 guests, so you can turn your Whistler wedding into a wedding weekend!
